Marquis Studios’ Statement of Solidarity

Marquis Studios joins our community in mourning the loss of Black lives due to racial injustice. We condemn the actions that were the result of systemic racism and echo the voices of the communities we serve. Through the arts, will continue to foster learning, reflection and genuine conversations. We will not be silent in the face of bigotry and we stand for justice and equity.

Marquis Studios stands in solidarity with the oppressed and demand an end to the discrimination and inequality that persists in our country. We will work with our black teachers, students, artists, and colleagues in the fight for change. As an arts organization that serves students of color, we dedicate ourselves to driving diversity, equity, and inclusion.

It is our hope that every student that participates in our programs is heard, seen, empowered and supported, but we recognize that is not always the case and we must do more to break down the inherent biases that exist within our society. We remain steadfast in our support of the communities that are suffering as we work towards a deeper understanding of ourselves and the ways that we can enact change.

As an organization, we continue to be actively anti-racist and to provide opportunities for open dialogue and discussion on how we can become a more inclusive community. We will start by being honestly reflective and open to further educating ourselves on the issues surrounding privilege and inequity inherent in our world. We do this work in recognition of those lost: George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the many others whose voices can no longer be heard. We say their names.
