DUPLICATION OF PROGRAMS

Marquis Studios' staff will work with your school or institution to duplicate our successful model of integrating arts into the curriculum. This model was developed under an Empire State Partnership grant over the last six years with PS 179 in Brooklyn. Using a combination of staff development workshops, the introduction of student and teacher generated assessments, and round table discussions to identify your institution's particular needs and challenges, we will construct a realistic and effective program for you.

FEAR AND LOATHING IN CONSULTING
As your organization matures you will find yourself wanting to achieve certain things (increased funding, boosted marketing, staff training) that are beyond your organization's capacity. Perhaps it's time to call in a consultant? They can achieve these things for you without your having to hire a full-time staff person. But many of us are terrified of the costs and wonder if results are guaranteed. We will discuss with your staff the benefits of using consultants and address your nagging doubts. We were invited to present this program at the 2002 Face to Face conference and the 2003 Common Ground Conference.

FORMING A NON-PROFIT FOR FUN AND NOT TOO MUCH PROFIT
The New York City Department of Education tends to discourage individuals from offering programs as teaching artists. Have you considered forming a not-for-profit and working as a group? This step will also facilitate your ability to raise funding through grants. We will look at several models for pursuing this change in your career and give you some of the basic information you can use to create a non-profit and get your Department of Education contracts. We were invited to present this program at the 2001 Face to Face conference and the 2002 Common Ground Conference.

ASKING OURSELVES THE HARD QUESTIONS
If we care to improve our practice as educators, indeed if we are to sustain those practices that succeed, we must begin to ask ourselves the hard questions and not fear where they may lead us. We must examine our methods and question our assumptions about ourselves. Marquis Studios has undertaken this work over the last two years by connecting with consultants who have helped shape and execute the inquiry process. We have also asked ourselves basic questions about who we are, what we do, and who we wish to be. This has led to a revised mission statement, a new set of assessment rubrics to be used when looking at programs in the classroom and, perhaps not coincidentally, $45,000 in new funding. We were invited to present this program at the 2002 ESP Summer Seminar.
